Recently I fell prey to a so-called blog, www.cathysteeth.com, authored by a woman from Royal Dalton, Ohio who supposedly used two trial teeth whitening products: Ivory Bites and Max White Teeth. Supposedly if you use these two trial products from supposedly two different companies, they work very well together compared to other products on the market. There were a number of positive reviews - yea, right.
So as you might have guessed, I bit the free trial offer. Not free - you had to provide your credit card to pay for shipping. That should have been my first RED FLAG.
The product itself was useless. I used it for nearly two weeks and had no change other than a little sensitivity in my gums.
On another note, I went back to the blog a week later to print off her instructions and much to my surprise the woman’s location was not a city in Michigan and she was promoting two other teeth whitening companies with the same story.
Immediately I called both companies and requested every charge previous and in the future be cancelled and/or reversed. I have dealt with many merchants online and I can honestly say I’ve never been given such a hard time in cancelling a service. I wasted more time and was close to absolute livid rage and that is NOT me. They only thing that got this guy’s attention during his well scripted sales bull was my threat to contact my credit card company immediately. He finally agreed to cancel my membership but I had to email (of all lame things) my request to have any credit card charges reversed. Of course I did it and of course they still charged me.
You bet I had my credit card cancelled and my card bank told me that these teeth whitening companies are under fraud investigations. If it weren’t for the fact of wasting more time with these frauders I’d have completed the fraud complaint form a the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
My only reason for this blog post is to WARN other people of this discete, scam and according to my credit card company it is considered “fraud”.
Here are links to other websites who have reported their own stories about these companies. I wish reader of this blog post much success in finding a whitening service or product that provides the results you need.
